Donald Lee Messner, 75, Brazil, passed away at home June 28, 2011, following a lengthy illness.
He was born July 28, 1935, in Syracuse, Kan., the son of Lee and Wilma Messner. Don enlisted into the United States Air Force at the age of 17, and retired from active duty in 1972 as First Sergeant. Don had also worked as a peace officer in Foresthill, Calif., for 10 years, retiring in 1983. Don enjoyed woodworking, building houses, spending time on his houseboat and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Wilma Messner, a daughter Kori Messner and stepfather-in-law Sam Phegley.
Survivors include his wife Shellie Messner, daughter Kim Raymond, California, grandson James Raymond, California, sister Patricia Montell (Del), California, brother Dale Messner, Nevada, father-in-law Robert Maesch Sr. (Darla), mother-in-law Vonna Phegley, all of Brazil, as well as many extended family members.
At Don's request, no services have been planned. Cremation services have been entrusted to French Funeral Home.
