For approximately 30 years, Wednesdays during the Rotary Club of Brazil 4th of July Celebration have been special.

And for special people.

The Rotary Club of Brazil opened the Midway early Wednesday for Special Rides for Special People.

"This means a lot," Rotary President Dr. Miranda Goodale said. "We are a service organization. That's our mission above anything else."

Dr. Goodale said seeing the "smiles on the faces" of the individuals with special needs meant the most.

"You can tell it's a huge deal for them," she said.

The carnival opened between 1-3 p.m., for the afternoon for the event. Four rides were opened.
