Report: U.S. 40 to reopen

Thursday, June 30, 2011

Officials with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Crawfordsville District told The Brazil Times Thursday the portion of United States 40 between Seelyville and Brazil is expected to be reopened later today.

Officials said the crack that formed in the asphalt would be patched in order for the highway to be reopened for the July 4 holiday.

INDOT crews are expected to return to the site in approximately two weeks to conduct further work on the area of road.

On Monday, INDOT officials announced a 60-foot long section of U.S. 40 near the Clay/Vigo County line would be closed due to a 5-8 inch dip that formed in the road.
