PUTNAM COUNTY -- Indiana State Police Troopers were dispatched to the 48-mile-marker (eastbound) of Interstate-70 Thursday morning for a two-vehicle crash involving an Indiana Department of Transportation vehicle.
According to reports, INDOT maintenance crews were working on the roadway in the area and were using maintenance trucks with arrow boards to move traffic from the eastbound driving lane into the eastbound passing lane.
During the work period, an eastbound black, 2007 Toyota car, driven by Teresa D. Myers, 38, Terre Haute, failed to see the warning signs and veered to the left at the last minute, striking the INDOT vehicle in the left rear.
The INDOT vehicle was occupied by Ted D. Whitaker, 68, Harmony.
Further investigation found that Myers was allegedly driving impaired.
She was later taken to the Putnam County Hospital for a blood test and incarcerated in the Putnam County Jail on suspicion of Operating While Intoxicated -- Controlled Substance (Prescription Drugs), a Class C misdemeanor.
Her bond was set at $500.
No injuries were reported and no other citations were issued.
ISP Trooper Troy Cobb investigated the crash.
