Friday, July 1, 2011

The following are a list of upcoming events scheduled for today, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday as provided to The Brazil Times:

No Meeting

Due to the July 4 holiday this Monday, the Clay County Breakfast Optimist Club will not meet Saturday.

Freewill Breakfast

The Center Point United Methodist Church will send a team to Cap Hatien, Haiti, to help work on the church there and to put on a Vacation Bible School for 1,000 children at New Jerusalem Ministries.

The church will provide meals for 1,000 children each day for three days.

The church will conduct a fundraising breakfast Saturday, from 7-11 a.m.

All proceeds from the freewill offering of the breakfast will be used to help provide meals for the children.

Those who may not be able to attend, but would like to support the effort, may send contributions to Center Point UMC, PO Box 96, Center Point, Ind., 47840. The menu will consist of sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy and pancakes.

Relay Yard Sale

The 2011 Clay County American Cancer Relay For Life Yard Sale has been scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

The event will take place Friday, July 2, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday, July 3, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., at the corner of 511 Edgewood Drive and Ringo Drive, Brazil. All proceeds from the event will be used to support this year's Relay For Life.

Members of the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a pancake breakfast fundraiser from 7-11 a.m., Monday.

The event will take place at the firehouse, located near the intersection of County Road 600 North and Harmony Road (CR 200 East).

Cost is a freewill offering.

The menu will consist of pancakes, biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage links or patties and drinks, including milk, orange juice or coffee.

All money raised from the event will be used to purchase communication equipment for the department.

Meeting Moved

Because the July 4 holiday is on a Monday, the Carbon Town Council board meeting will take place at 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 5.
