Area United Way hosting pilot campaign kickoff

Thursday, July 7, 2011

TERRE HAUTE -- Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College will host the United Way of the Wabash Valley Pilot Campaign Kickoff Wednesday, in the Le Fer Ballroom at 10 a.m.

The Pilot Campaign Kickoff will mark the beginning of the United Way of the Wabash Valley's 2011 Campaign. The campaign goal and the pilot companies will be announced at the event.

The announcement of the 2011 goal is very exciting for United Way and its 36 community partners.

Last year was the first year in more than 10 years that United Way of the Wabash Valley was able to reach its goal of $1.8 million.

"I am determined to continue the momentum from last year and reach this year's goal," 2011 Campaign Chair Bernice of Coldwell Banker Troy Helman said.

Rick Burger of Duke Energy will lead the Pilot Campaign this year and is encouraged by the number of companies who have stepped up to be pilot companies.

The Pilot Company Campaign is composed of an exclusive group of companies that are dedicated to the community.

"The Pilot Companies run their campaigns early allowing them to lead by example for the companies that run their campaigns during the overall fall campaign," Burger said.

A continental breakfast will be served during the Wednesday event.
