Letter to the Editor

Letter carriers offer thanks

Sunday, July 17, 2011

To the Editor:

To the people of Brazil:

On Saturday, May 14, you joined the local letter carriers to help "Stamp out Hunger."

We thank you so very much.

Thanks to your generosity, we collected 3,765 pounds of food -- nearly double our previous total. The food was divided between the Clay County Emergency Food Pantry and the Clay County Senior Citizen's Food Pantry.

Thanks to the generosity of our local business sponsors, we were able to cover our expenses with money to spare. That money has been divided and sent to the food pantries to help them.

Special thank yous go to A+ Printing (Kevin and his crew were wonderful, even when I came in for "last-minute" T-shirts), The Brazil Times (for your help in getting the word out), The Riddell National Bank (for the spot on your message board), Clover Signs (for our signs and banners), The National Guard (for the use of their truck and the time of their men), and all the collection sites.

Thank you all, again, for your contributions of food. Thank you to our sponsors and volunteers -- we really could not have put on this food drive without you.

Respectfully yours,

Karen E. Stearley,

NALC Branch 670, President
