Alternate lanes along United States 40 will be closed for the repaving of a section of the road just west of the Clay/Vigo line.
Indiana Department of Transportation Public Information Director for the Crawfordsville District Debbie Calder told The Brazil Times engineers plan for the repaving to begin the week of July 25-29.
"Right now, we don't anticipate having to close the entire road down," Calder said. "We hope to be able to just close a lane or two down at a time for the work to be completed."
On June 27, INDOT shut down a 60-foot long section of U.S. 40 due to a 5-8-inch dip, which had formed in the area.
INDOT crews patched the crack and reopened the stretch of road a few days later, which was in time for the Fourth of July holiday, and reduced the speed limit in the area from 55 to 45 mph.
INDOT encourages motorists to use caution in work zones and keep an eye out for workers.
