The following is a list of upcoming events provided to The Brazil Times:

Meeting Set

The Clay County Board of Health will conduct its quarterly meeting Monday, July 25, at noon.

The meeting will take place in the conference room, located in the lower level of the medical office building at 1214 E. National Ave., Brazil.

The meeting agenda will include:

* Proposed 2012 budgets for the health department, and

* Quarterly reports by health nurse, environmentalist, community health educator and emergency preparedness coordinator.

Teen Program

The Brazil Public Library will host a teen program Wednesday, July 27.

The event, for youth 10-older, will run from 6-7:30 p.m.

Those attending will be able to learn how to keep summer memories handy in a scrapbook accordion-style photo album.

Those planning to attend are asked to bring 10-20 photographs.

Cost for the program is $4, with pre-registration and pre-payment.

Youth Program

The Brazil Public Library youth program will take place Thursday, July 28, from 6-7:30 p.m.

Those attending will make five stamped lunch bags in preparation for school.

The program is free and open to all youth.

Meeting Set

Members of the American Legion Post 2 will meet Thursday at the V.F.W. Post 1127 meeting hall.

The board will meet at 6 p.m., with the regular meeting scheduled for 7.

Meeting Scheduled

The Brazil Township Trustee recently announced that taxpayers of Brazil Township the proper legal officers will hold a budget planning meeting at the Township Trustee's Office at 4 p.m., July 29.

Taxpayers appearing at the meeting will be allowed to speak.


The family of Blake Wharton, 11, has scheduled a benefit for the youth.

The event will take place Saturday, July 30, at the V.F.W. Post 1127, 303 S. Depot St., Brazil.

A spaghetti dinner has been scheduled for 4-8 p.m., in addition to a silent auction and Karaoke from 7-11 p.m.

Blake is attempting to raise enough money to attend the upcoming Junior National Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C., in September.

Ice Cream!

The Ashboro United Methodist Church, located on State Road 59 south of Brazil, will conduct its 34th Ice Cream Social Saturday, July 30, beginning at 5 p.m.

Barbecue sandwiches, hot dogs, nachos and cheese, pies and cakes will also be available for purchase. Entertainment will be provided.
