The Clay County Optimist Junior Golf Tourney was held Monday afternoon at Forest Park Golf Course. On Monday afternoon, Forest Park Golf Course played host to the annual Brazil Breakfast Optimist Junior Golf Tourney with participants in five different age groups on hand.

Rockville rising sophomore, Andrew Weisheit was the overall scoring leader and won the boys 14-15 age group with an impressive 36-35 score for a 71. Weisheit has played well this summer as a whole and boasts a pair of top-10 finishes on the Indiana Pepsi Junior Golf Tour at Willowbrook Golf Course and Christmas Lake.

Adam LaGrange and Ryan Cahill each shot a 74 to finish second and third in the age group.

Rockville High School golfer Patrick Dighton was the boys' winner in the 16-18 age group, shooting a 36 on the front nine and followed that up with a 39 for an overall round of 75, which edged out Zack Thomas' 78. Jacqueh Taylor shot a 79 to place third in the group.

In the boys' 13-and-under age group, Justin Wilson, who placed second in the Terre Haute junior city golf tournament two weeks ago, shot a 78 to edge Shane Lunsford by one stroke. Ten-year-old Andrew Granda shot an 80 to place third.

In the girls' divisions, Megan Heaton shot a 102 to top Kalie Atkinson by one stroke to win the girls' 16-18 age group. In the girls' 14-15 grouping, 12-year-old Megan Ramer shot an 87 to defeat Keirsten Mikesell by 13 strokes. Ramer has performed well on the Pepsi Junior Golf Tour, winning a pair of tournaments and placing second in three others.
