An outstanding turnout of golfers participated in the First Annual Pierson Dehart Memorial Tournament at Forest Park Golf Course.

Proceeds from the event benefited the family of Carter Quinn, a three-year old Brazil boy who is fighting a rare debilitating disease which attacks the youngsters muscles. Carter is treated at the Peyton Manning Childrens' Hospital in Indianapolis. Funds will be used by the family as they deal with the financial and emotional strain of his diagnosis.

The team of Chris Dehart, Doug McDonald, Doran Lee and Alan Goff defeated the team of Eric Trusler, Bobby Treash Jr., Nick Bonomo, and Darren Buck in a sudden-death playoff. McDonald sank a 15-foot birdie putt on number one to seal the victory after the teams tied at 16-under-par 55 in regulation play.

The third-place team of Lucas Ross, Stone, Dehart, and Ritchards fired a 15-under-par 56, followed by a 57 by the team of Kevin Wolfe, Troy Farris, Scott Buell, and T.G. Timberman.

The teams of Rick James, Ed Hughes, Mark Orr, and Bruce Lemons were next at 13-under and were tied by the team of Ryan and Rob Turner, Evans, and Matt Williams.

In a bonus for the Quinn family, all skins were cut and the golfers watching the scorekeeping voted to donate the more that $300 back to the Quinn family.

Tournament Directors Chris and Melissa Dehart were very pleased with the great turnout by area golfers, and were very thankful for all the volunteers who helped. They were also grateful for the generosity of hole sponsors and food and beverage donations. Those included water and soda donations by Refreshment Services Pepsi and food preparation and serving by a number of friends, family and volunteers.
