The following is a list of upcoming events provided to The Brazil Times:

Dine With A Doc

Senior Education Ministries, Inc., has scheduled its Dine With A Doc brunch for Wednesday, from 10 a.m.-noon, at the Clay County Senior Citizen's Center, 120 S. Franklin St., Brazil.

Dine With A Doc is a free program that welcomes the senior public to get to hear an educational topic while enjoying a complimentary lunch.

The program is a community effort of a doctor, a lunch sponsor, the senior citizens, local churches and area businesses.

The featured speaker at the Aug. 3 meeting will be Dr. Arvin Uppal MD, who specializes in Otolaryngology.


Christmas In The Park will host a free swim event Wednesday.

The event is open to the public and will take place at the Forest Park Pool, from 6-8 p.m.

Free soft drinks and popcorn will be available.

Meeting Set

The Clay County Commissioners will conduct a special meeting at 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 4, for the purpose of opening bids for the demolition of the old jail.

'Halie's Rainbow'

The second "Halie's Rainbow" Halie Hite Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament will take place Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Oak Ridge Golf Course.

Two shotgun starts have been planned.

Prizes will be awarded.

Those interested in participating should send entry form to Halie's Rainbow, 709A, N. Alabama St., Brazil, and make checks payable to Halie's Rainbow.

All proceeds will be sent to the Wabash Valley Community Foundation to be placed in the Halie Hite Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Annual Show

The Yesteryear Power Club will conduct its annual show event Saturday, Aug. 6, at Goshorn Park in Clay City.

Tractors, trucks, cars, engines, old iron of any kind (restored or unrestored) will be free to show or sell.

Door prizes will be given all day. In addition, there will be a free ham and beans dinner at noon.

A tractor parade and poker run are also scheduled as well as tractor games after the parade.

A&W Root Beer Restaurant, 12 Main St., Clay City, will sponsor a Bike Night from 5-9 p.m., Aug. 6.

A 50-50 drawing will take place to support Youth for Christ and the Rock.

Also, eight Harley Davidson motorcycles will be given away by A&W at the national level, with the winning peel off tickets located on drink cups.

A DJ will play music in the parking lot.

Ice Cream Social

The annual North Union United Methodist Church Ice Cream Social will take place at 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 6.

The church is located at the Clay-Vigo County line on State Road 42.

Sandwiches, homemade ice cream, desserts will be offered, as will a salad bar.

Pool Party!

RideTheWind will host a Summer Splash Saturday, Aug. 6, from 8-10 p.m., at the Forest Park Pool.

The event is free and the community is invited to the concert. Swimming, games and prizes will be available.

Those interested in attending are asked to bring lawn chairs.

The Brazil Moose Lodge Riders will conduct a ride to raise funds for the Clay County Humane Society Sunday, Aug. 7.

The ride is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., and riders will be back at approximately 4 p.m.

The lodge will be open later in the evening as Country 90 Proof will perform. In addition, a fish fry will take place. Cost is $6.

Hope Reins is inviting the community to join for a horse training demonstration by Wild Horse Ministries, Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 6 p.m., at the Clay County 4-H Fairgrounds Horse Arena.
