Municipal Election field set

The field has been officially set.

Residents had until noon, Monday, to officially file for candidacy for the 2011 Municipal General Election among Clay County's small towns.

Among Carbon, Center Point, Clay City, Harmony, Knightsville and Staunton, only two races exist.

Two residents have filed for candidacy for Clay City's Clerk-Treasurer, including Republican Danny Wilson and Democrat Melinda Booe.

In addition, Republicans Roy Chenoweth and Robert Freeman, along with Democrats Guy Dickerson, Richard Sutton and Tammy Wilson filed for Town Council positions.

Meanwhile, Jason Walker (Republican) and Charlotte Reyher (Democrat) will square off for the position of Clerk-Treasurer in the Town of Knightsville.

Others filing for Knightsville Town Council positions include Democrats David Brown, Debra Cress and Charles Kester.

In the Town of Carbon, Independent Diane Fields filed for Clerk-Treasurer while Independents David McFaddin, Dennis Rightsell and Josephine Rightsell filed for town council.

In the Town of Center Point, Republican Roger Campbell filed for Clerk-Treasurer while Republicans Helen Hoffa, Donald Moreau and Roy Smith filed for town council.

In the Town of Harmony, Independent Donna Mullinix filed for Clerk-Treasurer. In addition, Elmer Pollard Sr., filed for Town Council Ward 1, while Leslee McDonald filed for Town Council, Ward 2. Brian Mathis filed for Town Council, Ward 3 and Janice Gooch filed for Town Council, Ward 4. All four are Independents.

In the Town of Staunton, Republican Cathy Mienheartt filed for Clerk-Treasurer, while Republicans Andy Kirchner and Brad Webster filed for town council, as did Democrat Ed Nevins.

The candidate field in the City of Brazil was already set.

The Mayor's race will feature Republican T.J. Sneddon, Democrat Brian Wyndham and Independent Steve Lamb, while the Clerk-Treasurer's race will pit Republican Mary Fisher against Democrat Karen McQueen.

In the race for City Council posts, Pat Heffner (Republican) will face Tyler Hutcheson (Democrat) for Council Member At-Large, while Gary Rickert (Republican) will square off against Brad Deal (Democrat) for Council Member, Ward 1.

In the Council Member, Ward 3, race, Democrat Ann Bradshaw will face Independent Mark Bedwell, while the race for Council Member, Ward 4, will feature Dustin Jorgensen (Republican) against Bill Lovett (Democrat).

In the Council Member, Ward 2, race, Republican Sam Glover is unopposed.
