The Staunton Community Center will host a chicken and noodle dinner Friday, Aug. 19, from 4-7 p.m.

The menu will include mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, dessert and drink. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children age 10-under.

Staunton First Christian Church

Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m., with worship service following at 10:30. Doug Parkey is the minister.

If you need transportation to morning worship service, please phone the church office at 446-3211.

The bus is wheelchair equipped.

Children's Church and Wee Worship meet at 10:30 a.m., in the Educational Building.

Sunday evening service and youth group meetings begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday evening Bible Study and Prayer Group meet at 7 p.m.

The Elders will meet at 6 p.m., Monday, Aug. 8, followed by the monthly meeting of the church board at 7 p.m.

The Christian Fellowship Club will meet for lunch at Pizza Hut in Brazil, Wednesday, Aug. 10, at 11:30 a.m.

Staunton United Methodist Church

We will be hosting a "Back-to-School Bingo" event Sunday, Aug. 14, at 6 p.m.

Everyone in the Staunton area is invited to play Bingo for school supply prizes.

We are stocking up, with the Clay Community Schools required supply lists as our guides and hope to help families who may be struggling to buy everything.

There is no charge and there will be free snacks and door prizes, as well as the prizes for winning Bingo games.

Happy birthday to Nick Pine Aug. 8.

Remember that the Community Food Pantry is open in the church basement from 3-5 p.m., on the last Wednesday afternoon of each month.

The next Food Pantry day will be Wednesday, Aug. 31.

Anyone in the Staunton area in need of help is welcome.

We appreciate the support of all the churches, schools, civic organizations and individuals who help make this needed outreach a success.

Please keep praying for everyone who is battling illness as well as all the brave men and women of our military and their families.

Also remember in prayer all the folks in nursing homes and hospitals and those who have lost loved ones.

Go out of your way to be kind to someone and pray for everyone.
