Anita Ruth McQueary, 79, Clay City, passed away peacefully Aug. 5, 2011, at her home with her family by her side.

Anita was born in Jasonville, Aug. 31, 1931, the daughter of Norman and A. Lorene (Fields) Jones.

She graduated from Coalmont High School with the class of 1949.

Anita married Victory McQueary Aug. 29, 1954.

She worked for Kroger in Jasonville and Linton and Allied Foods in Terre Haute. Later in life, she worked as the Harrison Township Bookkeeper, census taker and as a meter reader for REMC. The job she loved the most was raising her family.

Anita enjoyed spending time reading and being outdoors mowing and bird watching. However, her greatest delight was spending time with Chad and Kara and being involved with their activities.

Anita was a long-time member of New Hope Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, half-sisters Clarice Poppino and Clois Myers, and brothers Harold Jones and Ronald Jones.

She is survived by her husband Victor R. McQueary, daughter Kathy Rendant and husband Dan, son Keith "Termite" McQueary and wife Lisa, all of Clay City, grandchildren Chad and Kara Rendant, step-grandchildren Benjamin, Hannah and Noah Denker, brother Don Jones and wife Dianne, Riley, Ind., sister-in-law Eva Fry, former daughter-in-law Marissa Martin, three nieces they helped raise after the death of their father, Ronna Aydt, Susan Buskirk and Linda Edwards, as well as many other nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

Services will be at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Bill Trimble officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday, from 4-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nu Tu Yu.
