Ernest 'Dick' Harrison will be celebrating his 90th birthday with a pitch-in dinner Saturday, Aug 13, at 1 p.m., at the home of his daughter, Sharon Lee-Harrison Stearley, 3285 W. State Road 340, Brazil.

Dick was born on Aug. 22, 1921, in Tecumseh to Peter and Hannah Mary Atkinson Harrison. Later the family moved to Knightsville.

Of nine children, he is the only remaining. Siblings include: Ruth Robison, Joe Harrison, Fern Gallion, Ellen Baker, Charles Harrison, Raymond Harrison, Margaret Coleman and Robert 'Bob' Harrison.

On Nov. 18, 1939, he married Mary Belle Jones. She passed away April 20, 2011.

He worked for Pell's Roofing and Bedwell Tire until 1947, when he began working for General Motors Chevrolet Truck and Bus Plant, Indianapolis, retiring in 1979. After retiring he worked various carpentry jobs with his brothers and nephew, Jack Harrison, until his health began to fail.

He loved to coon hunt and earned many trophies from the champion Walker coon dogs he owned. He shares his home with his poodle "Blondie," that he taught to sing for her supper.

Dick enjoys hobby farming, raising cattle, hogs and chickens over the years. He continues to put out a large beautiful garden every year.

Dick is the grandfather of Lori Stearley, husband Steve Asher, Brazil, and Angela Boston, husband Brent Calloway, Bishop, Calif. He is Uncle Dick and Pappy to many.

All friends and family are invited to celebrate Dick's 90th birthday. Come and stay as long as you wish, or just drop by for a while.

No gifts please, cards are welcome. Your presence is most important.
