Volunteers Needed

Habitat for Humanity of Clay County is in need of volunteer workers to help build the home at 518 E. Ridge St., Brazil.

This week, workdays are Wednesday and Saturday, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Ice Cream!

The 54th Carbon United Methodist Church Homemade Ice Cream Social will take place from 4:30-7 p.m., today.

Homemade ice cream will be served, in addition to barbecue sandwiches, pimento cheese sandwiches, hot dogs, coney dogs, four different types of salads, cakes and pies, strawberry shortcake (with or without ice cream) and beverages.

The church is located five miles north of Brazil on State Road 59 and one mile east into Carbon.

All are welcome to enjoy the food and fellowship.

All food items will be individually priced.

Battle of Barbecue

The Boone County Cancer Society is inviting all for an evening of food, live music and fun for children.

The Battle of the Barbecue will take place at Lebanon Memorial Park today, from 5-7 p.m.

It is open to the public.

Those attending will be able to sample barbecue, side dishes, desserts and drinks for $10 per person.

All proceeds will go to the Boone County Cancer Society.

Pence In Town

Gubernatorial candidate Congressman Mike Pence will be the guest speaker at an ice cream social hosted by the Clay County Republican Club Saturday.

The event will begin at 2:30 p.m., and will take place at the Forest Park Pavilion.

There is no charge to attend the event, but homemade ice cream, cookie and a drink will be served for $3.


A fundraiser for Serving on the Streets and Carmen Schleppy will take place Saturday at the Family Worship Center on United States 40, from 5-8 p.m. While no one will be turned away from the event, voluntary donations of $3 at the door will be accepted.
