Park Board member Linda Messmer asked the council for an additional appropriation of $7,000 to pave three areas in Forest Park.
"One is west of the swimming pool, from the log cabins down to Nabuca Drive. One is from State Road 59 up to Bonnie Miller Drive and then the third one would be from Nabuca Drive to the walking trail," Messmer said.
Messmer said the County Commissioners have agreed to supply the labor for the project if the park board could supply the materials, which were estimated at $19,085 by Wabash Valley Asphalt.
If the appropriation is granted, the park board will combine the money with $10,000 of approved rainy day funds and $3,000 received in donations to give the park board the $20,000 to complete the project.
She said if everything goes as planned the park, could be paved this year.
At this time, the council told Messmer to continue her project, with the next step being to bring the proposal in front of a public hearing to be approved.
Meanwhile, in other council news, Morris Manufacturing was granted a tax abatement and a petition for vacation of footways that run north and south in Gough's first addition beginning at lots 33 and 34 was granted.
