Area resident Barbara Miller will present, "Recess Time," at the Clay County Extension Office Tuesday, at 1 p.m.
Citizens are increasingly sedentary at home, at work and at play. Once upon a time, Americans walked to work, to school or to a bus stop, raked leaves, mowed grass and performed labor, intensive household and barnyard chores.
An inactive lifestyle has become the norm due to deskbound work, secondary play and machines that to work.
Miller's program proposes regular 10-minute exercise breaks (at work, school, meetings, etc.), utilizing music, dance and recess games to incorporate healthy habits into the workday, school day and community life.
Scheduled recess promises increased vitality, well-being and fitness.
The lesson is for Clay County Extension Homemaker members and anyone interested in a better lifestyle.
