The annual girls' soccer meeting between Terre Haute North and Northview had a familiar outcome as the Patriots won a 6-0 decision, but the Knights saw some positives with a young squad that includes 14 freshmen or sophomores.

The goaltending duo of sophomore Melissa Lummis, who started and saw action over the first 30 minutes of play, and freshman Mannah Mace did an outstanding job despite the overall tally by North. Both keepers made a bevy of saves from all angles and velocities as North controlled the ball for much of the contest.

The Knights were able to hold the Patriots to just one goal over the opening 40 minutes of play, an unassisted score by senior Amanda Loebker, who corralled a loose ball and found the net at the 21:02 mark.

The temperatures and the Patriots' pressure began to take its total in the second half as Molly McKee scored less than two minutes into the second half and Loebker scored off a corner kick by Shannon Welch to push the gap to 3-0.

Loebker would eventually finish off a hat trick in the game as North scored five goals in the second half to earn the victory.

North improved to 2-0 overall while Northview's record is even at 1-1 with a boy/girl doubleheader scheduled for Wednesday at home against West Vigo at 5 p.m.
