Coming to a theatre near you

Friday, August 19, 2011

The Community Theatre of Clay County at the Lark Theatre, 8 East National Avenue, Brazil, is preparing for its first show of the season.

On Sept. 23-24, "Schoolhouse Rock Live!" turns a pop culture phenomenon into a musical on stage.

The show will be full of entertainment, as well as education, just like the 1970s Saturday morning cartoon series.

Auditions for "The Rockin' Tale of Snow White," a young actor's musical (ages 6-15) will take place on Sept. 11, at 2 p.m.

The actors will then take the stage Nov. 3, at 7 p.m., and Nov. 4-5, at 2 p.m.

This isn't the traditional Snow White story, but instead a funny adaptation full of new faces and musical styles from hip-hop to doo-wop.

Young Actors' Theatre tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children.

The Christmas season will feature "Christmas at the Lark: A Holly, Jolly Christmas" Dec. 1-3.

After the Christmas season, bring in the New Year Jan. 27-28, with a choral revue celebrating the nation.

"An American Songbook" is a dessert theater that reflects a feeling of pride and patriotism.

Dessert theatre tickets are $15 and include the show and dessert bar.

"Murder at Rutherford House" is set for March 8-10, with auditions taking place on Jan. 16, at 6:30 p.m.

When arriving for this dinner theater, guests will mingle amongst themselves until a gunshot results in the evening's first corpse.

In the spring, "The Dixie Swim Club," will take place on May 4- 5.

This play follows 30 years in the lives of four Southern women and their friendship.

Auditions for this show will take place on March 11, at 2 p.m.

Single dinner theatre tickets are $25, which includes a buffet dinner and the show.

Season tickets are $100, which includes four dinner shows and the dessert show.

To order tickets, call Lisa Beyers at 442-6909 and leave an order and phone number on the message.

Reservations and prior payment are required for all dinner performances.

Cancellations must be received at least three days prior to show time to receive a refund.
