Born Sept. 3, 1942, in Seymour, Ind., she was the daughter of Jesse and Valla (Ayers) Cornett.
On Dec. 24, 1965, at the Reddington Christian Church, she married Irwin "Sonny" Lucas, who survives.
Sherry was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church and was a 1960 graduate of Seymour High School. She was a mother and homemaker. Sherry was Volunteer of the Year in St. Louis, Mo., twice. She had a generous heart and loved babies and all of her older friends.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her son, Timothy L. Sullivan, sons, Thomas M. (Angie) Lucas, Shawn E. Lucas, daughter, Kristy D. (Ray) Smith, grandchildren, Tyler Smith, Brogan Lucas, Matthew Lucas, Clarisse Sullivan, Jessica Lucas, Mason Smith, Hunter Sullivan, Taylor Smith, and sister, LaDonna Sue Marshall.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Bradley Mark Cornett, sisters, LaVonna Kay Crawford, and Sally Jo Wilson-Beddoe.
Funeral services will be held at Voss Chapel on Wednesday, Aug. 24, at 10 a.m. with Rev. John Moore officiating.
Burial will take place at Acme Cemetery with a Voss Dove release.
Friends may call at Voss Chapel on Tuesday, from 4-8 p.m. and on Wednesday at Voss from 9 a.m. until time of service.
There will be a gathering at the Surprise United Methodist Church after the graveside service for refreshments and a sharing of memories.
