CASCADE -- Northview hit the road to Cascade on Monday night to take on the Cadets in a non-conference boys' soccer battle that ended in a hard fought 1-1 draw.
The Knights trailed at halftime as Cascade found the net with 27:20 remaining in the first half, but Northview regrouped at halftime and carried play in the second 40-minute period.
K.J. Thomas found the net off an assist from Mark Underwood with 18:55 remaining. The Knights had ample opportunity to grab the lead, but weren't able to dent the scoreboard for the game-winner.
"We should have won this game. With 16 shots at the goal we should have finished more than one," coach Dustin Jorgensen said. "We had some great opportunities and just failed to get the ball in the back of the net. We played great possession soccer and had some great builds up the field. If we can play this way (today) against West Vigo and finish our shots we have a great shot at winning."
Underwood had four shots on goal to lead the team and both Sean Brockman and Mitchell Thomas added three. Dylan Dyer and Nick Ross fired two shots on net with Austin Frankville and Thomas adding one.
Underwood had four steals, K.J. Thomas had three and Dyar, Trey Boor, Joseph Hartley and Derek Snyder each had two. Matt Malone added seven saves in goal.
The Knights are 1-3-1 overall and host West Vigo in a boy/girl doubleheader at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
