On Aug. 16, officials witnessed a person allegedly driving recklessly through the town, refusing to stop and heading south out of town.
According to officials, the driver was exceeding speeds of 90-100 mph and the pursuit lasted less than two miles.
The driver, Ryan Ross Steadman, wrecked the vehicle at State Road 59 and County Road 50 West, south of State Road 246 West.
He was ejected from the vehicle. Officials found Steadman 200-feet away in a ditch with only minor injuries.
Steadman was charged with Resisting Law Enforcement (Class D felony), Possession of Marijuana (Class A misdemeanor), Possession of Paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor), Operating a vehicle with a schedule I or II Controlled Substance or Its Metabolite in the body (Class A misdemeanor) and Operating a motor vehicle with a fictitious registration (Class C infraction).
Those assisting the Clay City Police Department included the Clay County Sheriffs Department, the Clay City Fire Department Trans-Care and the Louis Township Search and Rescue.
At this time, Steadman is still incarcerated at the Clay County Justice Center.
