At Wednesday's annual City Council budget meeting the council will review each department's budget.

They also plan to talk about the status of the contract negotiations with the fire department.

Mayor Ann Bradshaw said the meeting is a work session to review the overall budget.

Bradshaw added that each department head will be in attendance to review their budgets to see what they are doing well, as well as what they could improve upon.

"(The council will look for) ways to cut cost or improve budgets, (and) talk about possible raises," Bradshaw said.

The department's budgets will be presented for review at the meeting, and afterward the City Council will have a better understanding of how much money will be available, said Bradshaw.

Bradshaw also said that contract negotiations with the fire department will be discussed.

She said the council will know more about where the negotiations stand after the meeting.

The City Council Budget Meeting will take place Wednesday, at 7 p.m., in Brazil City Hall.

To the city council how would like to get hundreds of thousands of dollars for streets without raising taxes. The taxpayers of brazil pay taxes to run the police department. They also pay taxes to operate the sheriffs department. The police department has been a thorn in the administration side for way too many years, for the last 50 i know of. Add 2 more men to the sheriffs department and do away with the police department. You don't have the ----,s to do it.

to grays (or should I say Larry Pierce):

Very bold statement coming from the chief of police. Once again you've managed to spout your mouth off about something that makes absolutly no sense. How can you compensate an entire 12 man police department with two deputies?

these raises she wants are for the family and friends that she hired before she's gone.she should'nt be making any decisions for the next year and that goes for the council also.

Gray's,

I think the CCSD is busy enough with everything they have and 2 new deputy's would not be enough to make things run better for them alone. Let alone the entire city! In my opinion they need my officers for Brazil. Yes there are a few not so good ones on BPD but a lot of them work very hard and stay out of the politics. I don't think larry or ann or anyone who would want to be involved with the management with the city would agree with your thoughts. If they do they do the crime rate would go up faster than the Dow Jones can drop! LOL
