The Brazil City Council and the head of each department met for a work session concerning the budget Wednesday night.
Financial advisors, Dan Hedden and Danny Marsh, from Umbaugh and Associates, Indianapolis, helped the council and department heads wade through the budgets.
As of Wednesday's meeting, no real decisions have been made with the budget, except for acknowledging the need to continue working at it before the deadline.
The date circled on the council's calendar is Oct. 26, which is the last day to adopt a budget.
During the meeting, the council was instructed on various ways to bring in more revenue.
Some ideas included increasing the monetary amount for ordinance violations and fines, as well as an increase in burial plot costs.
Ordinance violations included anything ranging from noise violations to loose dog ordinances.
However, there was no decision made on which to increase.
The next budget work session will be Sept. 7, one week before the Sept. 14 City Council meeting.
Both meetings will take place on their respective days in Brazil City Hall.
