DANVILLE -- The Northview boys' tennis team may have had to replace a group of experienced seniors from a sectional championship squad, but this year's squad has proven to be solid in its own right.

The Knights got yeoman efforts from Cole Watts and Garrett Baysinger to win three-set singles matches on the way to a sweep of Danville in a match postponed by a day due to weather.

Watts battled Colton Starcher in his first match playing No. 1 singles and he made it count with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 victory. Baysinger squared of with Nick Newman at No. 3 singles and came out on top with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 win. Senior Dillon Reynolds remained steady and came home with a No. 2 singles win by a 6-2, 6-4 score against Gage Hollandbeck of Danville.

The doubles matches went smoothly, especially for the No. 2 team of Alec Coughanowr and Kyle Moore, who teamed up for a 6-0, 6-0 whitewashing of Daniel Dieckmann and Nick Nelson. At No. 1 doubles, Bryce Britton and Skyler Holifield scored a 6-4, 6-2 win against Ding Leqin and Tyler Bradshaw.

Northview also got three doubles wins in junior varsity action to sweep the night of tennis.

The Knights are back in action on Saturday in the North Montgomery Invite at 9:30 a.m.
