* Saline City Festival kicks off Saturday

SALINE CITY -- The annual Saline City Festival, in conjunction with Bluegrass for Billy, will take place Saturday, Sept. 3-Monday, Sept. 5, at Graves Field in Saline City.

Admission and parking at the event are free.

This year's festival will feature many items, including entertainment, truck pulls, co-ed softball, church services, dinners, a lawnmower demolition derby and more. In addition, games for children will be featured and inflatables -- along with bounce houses -- will be set up each day.

Events kick off Saturday, Sept. 3, with the Clay City Band Booster Breakfast, from 7-10 a.m. The all-you-can-eat buffet will feature pancakes, sausage, biscuits and gravy, eggs, coffee, milk and juice for a cost of $5.

Co-ed softball games will begin at 7 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 3. For more information regarding the softball tourney, call Ryan Persinger at 812-699-2301.

The annual Saline City Jonah Fish Fry is scheduled to take place at 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 3. The menu will consist of fish, bread, drink, and a choice of baked beans, green beans, slaw or applesauce. Cost is $8 for adults. Children 12-under will be admitted for $5.

The ITPA and Street Truck Pull will take place at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 3. Admission is $6 and those interested in attending are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.

Classes featured in the event include ITPA Pro Stock 4-wheel drive, Stock 4-wheel drive 6,500-pound class, Altered 4-wheel drive 6,500-pound class, O.E.M. Fuel Injected Stock 6,800-pound class, Street diesel truck 8,000-pound class, Open diesel truck 8,000-pound class and Semi truck 20,000-pound class.

The Clay City Band Boosters will conduct another all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7-10 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 4. Cost is $5.

Co-ed softball games will again take place at 7 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 4.

A church service is also scheduled to take place at 10 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 4.

The band boosters will also conduct a chicken and noodle dinner/pulled pork/taco salad event from 11 a.m.-8 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 3, and Monday, Sept. 4. The menu will consist of chicken and noodles or pulled pork. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children. Cost for a taco salad is $4.

The Fat Boy Dan's Redneck Lawnmower Demolition Derby will take place at noon, Sunday, Sept. 4. There is no cost to attend the event. For further information, log on to www.fatboydanfishing.com.

Weigh-ins for the Truck and Tractor Pull will be from 2-5:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 4, with the event set to start at 5:30. Admission is $6.

Classes featured include 5,500-pound class, 6,500-pound class, 7,500-pound class, Front assist class, 10,000-pound class, 13,000-pound class, ITP Diesel 2.6 Diesel pickups and Open diesel truck 8,000-pound class.

Festivities on Monday, Sept. 5, will begin with more co-ed softball games at 8 a.m., and a Cornhole Tournament at 10 a.m. For more information on the Cornhole Tourney, call Travis Vansickle at 812-691-2759.
