Eagles host Riley Kids benefit Sept. 10

The Brazil Eagles will host a benefit for Riley Kids on Saturday, Sept. 10.

The project will raise money to buy a Critical Care Transport ambulance for Riley Hospital.

The ambulance the Eagles are raising money for is a special type of ambulance that has a doctor on board, as well as nurses and EMTs, and will be equipped to do surgery in the field.

Eagle member Jason Wendell is playing a large part in the benefit.

"It's a big benefit for the Riley Hospital, there are so many kids locally that benefit from (Riley Hospital), and it's such a big service to the local community." Wendell said.

"So we want to help them out."

The benefit will include an auction, food and live entertainment.

Wendell said the entertainment will feature Big Dead Bird and Mike Cummings, who will be doing a tribute to the Blues Brothers.

Eagle members said the menu is grilled BBQ pork steak, potato salad, baked beans and a roll for $7.

"All money that is raised will go to this project," Eagles President Gary Pearce said.

Pearce said the auction will contain items donated from various stores in town, and that they will continue to accept donations up until the last minute.

The benefit will take place Sept. 10, beginning at 3 p.m., at the Eagles lodge.

The public is welcome to attend.

Those who cannot attend the event, but would like to make a donation should call the Eagle's office at 448-8468.
