Heavy Trash Pick Up
The City of Brazil has scheduled heavy trash pick up for the month of October.
The following is a list of dates:
* If trash is picked up on Mondays, heavy trash for the area will be Oct. 7,
* If trash is picked up on Tuesdays, heavy trash for the area will be Oct. 21, and
* If trash is picked up on Thursdays, heavy trash for the area will be Oct. 28.
Those interested must call 448-8501 in advance for pick up.
Car Seat Station
The Clay County Sheriff's Department has established a Permanent Child Safety Seat Fitting Station for the inspection and installation of car seats.

Staunton Water Works will perform its fall fire hydrant flushing through Saturday.
The American Legion will host a dinner Friday, from 4-8 p.m., at the V.F.W. Post 1127.
The menu will include chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans and dessert. Cost is $7.
All proceeds will go to the American Legion recovery efforts.
The door prize will include one free ticket for the next dinner.
The YMCA of Clay County will conduct a youth dance Friday.
The dance is open for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders. Students should bring their school identification or other document showing their grade.
The dance begins at 8 p.m., and ends at 10:30. Cost is $5.
Concessions will be available for purchase in the Community Room and YMCA staff and volunteers will serve as chaperones. Parents are welcome to stay and chaperone as well.
The dance is a Y function.

The Reelsville Volunteer Fire Department will conduct its monthly breakfast from 7-11 a.m., Saturday.
Ice Cream Social
Otter Creek Christian Church, 6299 N. Crow St., Brazil, will conduct an old-fashioned homemade ice cream social Saturday, from 5-8 p.m.
There will be hot dogs, homemade desserts and many other treats available.
There will be a moonwalk for children of all ages and Riley and Cassie Hendrixon from the Greencastle area will provide special music for the evening.
There is no charge to attend the event.

Officials with the City of Brazil announced Tuesday that a portion of Luther Street would be closed Sunday, from noon-3 p.m.
The portion of the street is one block behind the Moose Lodge.

Auditions for the Community Theater of Clay County's Young Actor's Theater, "The Rockin' Tale of Snow White," will take place Sunday, at 2 p.m.
Ages 6-15 are welcome.

The Clay County Historical Society will meet Monday, at 7 p.m., in the lower level of the museum.
The speaker will be Ken Turner, museum historian, on the topic of "John Wilkes Booth and his connection to Clay County."
The public is invited to attend.
The museum is open Monday through Friday, from 1-4 p.m., and Saturdays, from 1-3:30 p.m.
Eastside Christian Church will again be the site for a tribute dinner for first responders at noon, Tuesday.
The menu will include ham and beans, cornbread and more.
The first dinner took place at Eddie's Sandwich Shoppe in 2002 for members of the Brazil City Police Department, Clay County Sheriff's Department, and firefighters.
The Brazil Public Library is inviting all to its facility Thursday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m., to make a scarecrow and a Frankenstein spool pin.
Cost for the program is $5. Those interested in participating are asked to pre-pay and pre-register.

The annual Clay County Chamber of Commerce Golf Scramble will take place Friday, Sept. 16, at Forest Park Golf Course.

The Lady Volunteers will serve a chicken and noodle dinner at the Staunton Community Center Sept. 16.
Serving hours will be 4-7 p.m., or until food runs out.
Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children 10-under.
The dinner will include chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, cole slaw, green beans and a roll.
Coffee, tea, lemonade and desserts will also be available.
