During the meeting, the school board adopted, with a 6-0 vote, the 2012 budget, capital projects plan and the school bus replacement plan and levy neutrality, which was previously presented by Business Affairs Director Mike Fowler during an August meeting when the 2012 budget was discussed.
Meanwhile, Indiana Code and Indiana Administrative Code provides that all Indiana accredited schools draw a school improvement plan that lays out objectives for a three-year improvement process. The plan must be annually reviewed and revised to accomplish the objectives.
"Each of our achievement plans must then be approved by the local superintendent and the school board," CCS Superintendent Kimberly Tucker said, "and then following the approval, the plans must be sent to the Department of Education."
Tucker said she had reviewed the plans and recommended approval. The school board approved the plans, which are now to be submitted to the Department of Education.
The school board also adopted the second reading of the classified handbook revisions and the second reading of the bus driver handbook revisions, both by 6-0 vote. No changes were opposed during the first reading of both handbook revisions. At the end of the meeting, the school board approved a personnel recommendation.
