Heavy Trash Pickup
Heavy trash pickup in the City of Brazil will take place in October.
The schedule will include the following:
* Trash picked up on Mondays will include heavy trash pickup Oct. 7,
* Trash picked up Tuesday and Wednesdays will include heavy trash pickup Oct. 21, and
* Trash picked up Thursdays will include heavy trash pickup Oct. 28. For more information, call 443-2221.
The Brazil Lion's Club is currently taking orders for roses.
The club will take orders until Wednesday, Oct. 12.
Cost is $15 per dozen, pre-paid.
Orders may be placed with Suellen Wegner at Terre Haute Savings Bank, 260 E. National Ave., Brazil.
Pickup of the roses will be Friday, Oct. 21, from 2-6 p.m., at the bank.
All proceeds will go toward the Brazil Lion's Club community projects.

The Lady Volunteers will serve a chicken and noodle dinner at the Staunton Community Center today.
Serving hours will be 4-7 p.m., or until food runs out.
Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children 10-under.
The dinner will include chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, cole slaw, green beans and a roll.
Coffee, tea, lemonade and desserts will also be available.
Northview High School will put together its first Homecoming Parade this year.
Friday, beginning at 5:30 p.m., all are invited to the parade, which will begin on Kennedy Crossing Road and loop around to North Clay Middle School before coming back to the Northview track complex.
The Knights face the Owen Valley Patriots during Homecoming this year.
Nelson's Port-A-Pit Golden Glow Chicken will make a return appearance at Northview High School during the school's Homecoming football game today.
Serving will take place from 4:30-7 p.m., in the NHS north parking lot.
Chicken will be cooked, barbecue-style, on the grounds.
Tailgating will be allowed and the school cafeteria will also be open for those wishing to utilize it.
Cost is $8.50 per person.
The meal will include one-half of a chicken, baked beans, potato salad, rolls, butter and drink, all prepared by Nelson's catering staff.
The Brazil Post Office, 227 W. National Ave., will host a Passport Fair Saturday, from 9 a.m.-noon.
Food Bank Closed
The Wesley Chapel Food Bank will not be open Saturday.
A 5K run/walk, car/bike cruise-in, freewill breakfast and more will be hosted Saturday, with all benefits going to the Bowling Green Volunteer Fire Department to help get its brush truck up and going.
Baked pasta will be served at the Fontanet Community Center Saturday, from 4-8 p.m.
Donations may be made to the Nevins Township Fontanet Action Community Team (F.A.C.T.).

Club To Meet
The Clay County Republican Club will host its monthly meeting Monday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m., at the Clay County Senior Citizen's Building on Franklin Street, Brazil.
The meeting will be a meet-and-greet with Republican candidates, including Mayoral candidate TJ Sneddon, clerk-treasurer candidate Mary Fisher and city council candidates Pat Heffner and Dustin Jorgensen.
Each candidate will speak briefly on their history, reason for running for office and goals for office.
The public is invited to the event to ask questions.
Refreshments will be furnished by club members.
The Carbon Post Office will offer a free seminar for those interested in growing their business.
The seminar, "A Simpler Way to Ship Your Online Items," will take place Thursday, Sept. 22, from 10 a.m.-noon.
Fontanet Postmaster Kent Kadel will present the event.

Those interested in learning more about Taxidermy in preparation for the upcoming hunting season are invited to the Brazil Public Library Sept. 22.
Whitetail Impressions will be the guest speaker at the event, scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m.
