Bands earn votes in poll

The first week poll has been issued by www.indianamarching.com, and both Northview and Clay City have received votes.

In the Class B Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) poll, the Marching Knights received 119 votes, good enough for fourth place overall.

Greenwood received the most votes with 144, followed by Jasper (142), Goshen (129), Northview, Concord (116), Floyd Central (93), DeKalb (81), North Side (64), and Bloomington North and Plainfield each with 57 votes.

Also earning votes in the poll were New Castle (40), Munster (26), Angola (12), Plymouth (9), Whiteland (9), Greenfield-Central (8), Zionsville (5) and F.J. Reitz (1).

Greenwood earned six first-place votes while Jasper tallied four.

In the ISSMA Class D poll, Clay City earned 26 votes, placing them 13th overall.

Forest Park topped the Class D poll again this week with 146 votes, followed by Lewis Cass (137), Springs Valley (137), Paoli (116), Mater Dei (111), Woodlan (97), Monrovia (79), Adams Central and Orleans (70 each) and North Posey (55).

Other bands receiving votes in this week's poll included Bluffton (54), South Spencer (52), Morristown (25), Pioneer (10), Eastern Greentown (9), Clinton Prairie (3), Crawford County (1), Eastside (1) and Taylor (1).

Forest Park had six first-place votes while Lewis Cass had three and Springs Valley tallied one.

Avon topped this week's Class A poll with 150 votes and Western was the top band in Class C with 150 votes. Both bands received all 10 first-place votes in their respective polls.

Both the Imperial Regiment and Marching Knights will take part in Saturday's Red Pride Invitational at Plainfield.

Clay City -- the lone Class D band taking part -- will hit the field at 4:05 p.m.

Northview will be the last band in Class B action and is scheduled to perform at 7:20 p.m.

Other Class B bands performing include Greenfield-Central (6:15 p.m.), New Palestine (6:28), Bloomington South (6:41), Zionsville (6:54) and New Castle (7:07).

Plainfield is scheduled to perform in an exhibition format and will take the field at 7:33 p.m., followed by the Class B awards presentation.
