CLAY CITY -- The Clay City volleyball team picked up a SWIAC victory on Thursday night by defeating Bloomfield, 25-21, 25-17, 25-20.
The Eels were in sync from the opening service as Meeghan Riggs was 15-of-16 from the service line with 10 points and Asie Jeffers served at a 100-percent rate in the win.
"The team really pulled together and never took their foot of the gas pedal the whole match. We passed
well and played good defense," coach Lu Anne Anderson said of her squad.
Halli Brewer had 10 kills to lead the team against the Cardinals and added three solo blocks and a dig. Asie Jeffers added nine kills with four solo blocks and Brielle Drelick served up three aces and added seven digs and eight kills. Callie Dayhuff had 16 digs and Riggs contributed six kills and seven digs and an assist.
The Eels passing was superb in the win as Emmie Kittle had 28 assists, two kills and five digs. Chloe Kittle was 12-of-13 serving with eight points and an ace to go with a kill and six digs.
