Applications for the Clay County Thanksgiving Basket Program are available through the Clay County Department of Child Services, the Brazil Housing Authority and Hamilton Center, Inc.
Parents need to list the members who are living within the household. The form must be returned by the end of business Friday, Oct. 7, to any of the above listed locations.

The Clay County Friends of the Library will conduct their last book sale of the year today and Saturday, as well as Sept. 29-30, and Oct. 1.
The sale will take place in the bookstore across from the Brazil Public Library, and will run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., each day.

The Staunton United Methodist Church will serve a chicken and noodle dinner at the Staunton Community Center Friday.
Serving will be from 4-7 p.m., or until food runs out.
Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children 10-under.
The dinner will include chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, rolls, drinks and dessert.
All proceeds will go to benefit the Staunton United Methodist Church.
The Community Theatre of Clay County will present "Schoolhouse Rock Live!" Friday and Saturday.
Performances are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. In addition, a buffet dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children, which includes the dinner. Reservations are required.

The "Benefit For Courtney Lash," will take place Saturday, at Northview High School.
A craft fair is set for 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and a silent auction will take place from 4-7 p.m.
A Country Rhodes Fish Fry will also take place from 4-7 p.m.
Cost for the meal is $8.50 for adults and $5.50 for children.

Operation First and Green will host a highway cleanup Saturday.
Those interested in attending are asked to meet at the Brazil McDonald's between 9:30-10 a.m. Cleaning will begin at 10 a.m.
Those attending will clean a mile stretch of land beside United States 40 and are expected to be done by noon.

Operation First and Green is an affiliate of the 2012 NFL Super Bowl Host Committee. Part of the organization is the Green Corps, a group of approximately 170 high school students across the state who are leading their peers in the fight to go green.
The Church of Our Lord Jesus, 708 E. Hendrix St., Brazil, will conduct its next food giveaway Saturday, from 1-3 p.m.

The Reelsville Volunteer Fire Department will conduct its annual chili supper for its 50th anniversary Saturday, from 4-8 p.m.
Live music will be featured and raffle prizes will be given away.
A Boy Scout Cake Auction will take place at 7:30 p.m.
The Elks Lodge No. 762 and Coach's Timeout Bar and Grill are teaming up for a fundraiser.
The event, a street party, will take place on Sherfey Street. It is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24, beginning at 6 p.m.
The featured entertainment will be 4 Days In Space. A DJ will also provide music.
Cost is $3, of which $1 will benefit the Clay County Humane Shelter.
In addition, the Elks Lodge will match the gift up to $200.

The Posey Township Neighborhood Watch Committee will meet at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 25, at the Staunton Community Center.
The Clay County Tax Sale will take place Monday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m., in the rotunda of the Clay County Courthouse.
All properties being sold were listed in a legal notice in a previous edition of The Brazil Times.
The Clay County Chamber of Commerce will meet Tuesday, at noon, at the St. Vincent Clay Hospital meeting room.
The speaker for the meeting is Chris Pfaff, from Indiana State University's Business Engagement Office and DTH.
Cost is $7 for members and $10 for non-members.
