The following is a list of upcoming area events scheduled for Saturday, Sunday and Monday as provided to The Brazil Times:

Guest Speaker

Clay Community Skatepark representative Roberta Weliever will be the guest speaker for the Clay County Breakfast Optimist Club Saturday.

The club meets regularly on Saturdays, at 8 a.m., at Sisters Coffee Bar, 123 E. National Ave., Brazil.

The public is invited to Saturday's meeting.

Benefit Set

The "Benefit For Courtney Lash," will take place Saturday, at Northview High School.

A craft fair is set for 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and a silent auction will take place from 4-7 p.m.

A Country Rhodes Fish Fry will also take place from 4-7 p.m.

Cost for the meal is $8.50 for adults and $5.50 for children.

Highway Cleanup

Operation First and Green will host a highway cleanup Saturday.

Those interested in attending are asked to meet at the Brazil McDonald's between 9:30-10 a.m. Cleaning will begin at 10 a.m.

Those attending will clean a mile stretch of land beside United States 40 and are expected to be done by noon.

Any person or group in volunteering may contact Clay Community Schools Green Corps Representative Kole Smith at 812-878-0547.

Operation First and Green is an affiliate of the 2012 NFL Super Bowl Host Committee. Part of the organization is the Green Corps, a group of approximately 170 high school students across the state who are leading their peers in the fight to go green.

Food Giveaway

The Church of Our Lord Jesus, 708 E. Hendrix St., Brazil, will conduct its next food giveaway Saturday, from 1-3 p.m.

Chili Supper

The Reelsville Volunteer Fire Department will conduct its annual chili supper for its 50th anniversary Saturday, from 4-8 p.m.

Live music will be featured and raffle prizes will be given away.

A Boy Scout Cake Auction will take place at 7:30 p.m.

Music Time!

The regular bi-weekly country and western music is scheduled at the Clay County Senior Citizen's Center, 120 S. Franklin St., Saturday.

All are welcome.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with music set to start at 7 and last until 9.

Sandwiches and dessert will be available.

Street Party

The Elks Lodge No. 762 and Coach's Timeout Bar and Grill are teaming up for a fundraiser.

The event, a street party, will take place on Sherfey Street. It is scheduled for Saturday, beginning at 6 p.m.

The featured entertainment will be 4 Days In Space. A DJ will also provide music.

Cost is $3, of which $1 will benefit the Clay County Humane Shelter.

In addition, the Elks Lodge will match the gift up to $200.

The Community Theatre of Clay County will present "Schoolhouse Rock Live!" Saturday.

Performances are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. In addition, a buffet dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children, which includes the dinner. Reservations are required.

Neighborhood Watch

The Posey Township Neighborhood Watch Committee will meet at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 25, at the Staunton Community Center.

Tax Sale

The Clay County Tax Sale will take place Monday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m., in the rotunda of the Clay County Courthouse.

All properties being sold were listed in a legal notice in a previous edition of The Brazil Times.
