Funeral services for Virginia Overstreet have been scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at Hayhurst Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow, Okla. Rev. Don T. Johnson will officiate. Burial will be 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at the National Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, Okla., under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home.

Virginia Overstreet was born Nov. 11, 1922, in Brazil, Ind., the daughter of John Newell and Emma (Liechty) Niswonger. Virginia died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at Cedar Crest Care Center in Broken Arrow, Okla. She was 88 years of age.

The former Miss Virginia Niswonger was a graduate of Brazil High School. She married Stanley Madison Overstreet on May 31, 1941, in Nepolean, Ohio. They moved to Broken Arrow in April of 2007.

Stanley preceded her in death on May 4, 2007.

Virginia was a homemaker and had been a secretary for an insurance company and Clapps Equipment. She enjoyed reading, writing letters, working crossword puzzles, and she was an avid walker.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kerrville, Texas. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 6465 S. Yale Ave., Suite 312, Tulsa, Okla., 74136-7804.

She is survived by children, Karen Johnson, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Bill Overstreet, Redwood City, Calif., six grandchildren, Denise, Anthony, Amy, Cindy, Ryan and Carrie, and 10 great grandchildren.
