Cafeteria representatives donated the iPad to the school's student council under one condition: That they conduct a raffle with all proceeds going to the council's annual food basket drive.
On Friday, the school conducted the raffle, with seventh-grader Harley Staley, 13, winning the computer.
The students met in the cafeteria Friday morning to hear the winning name drawn.
According to school bookkeeper and student council advisor Sheri Yocom, students and faculty had an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets until Thursday for the computer. Yocom said approximately $600 was raised in the raffle.
Yocom added Harley purchased quite a few tickets, using birthday money.
The student council will purchase turkeys and hams for the food drive.
The baskets will be given out as part of the Clay County Thanksgiving Basket Program and will be distributed for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Harley is the son of Vallie and Nick Staley, Brazil.
