Public encouraged to meet Red Cross

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

Terre Haute -- The American Red Cross, along with the 138th Quartermaster, the Indiana Army National Guard and the Brazil Elks are sponsoring the 138th Quartermaster Mini Boot Camp Saturday, Oct. 1, from 2-4 p.m., at the Brazil Popcorn Festival in the park/playground area. The event is free.

"The American Red Cross provides emergency services to the U.S. Army Forces and their families by linking military members with their families during emergencies and serving as the gateway for emergency financial assistance," American Red Cross Wabash Valley Chapter Military Coordinator Mary Beth Jenkins said.

Volunteers represent over 90 percent of the Red Cross workforce. Red Cross representatives will be at the Mini Boot Camp providing information about the work of the Red Cross, its impact on lives and how people can join the Red Cross movement as a volunteer.

For more information about Red Cross volunteer opportunities in the Wabash Valley, contact Stephanie Land at 812-232-3393 ext. 12 or sland@wabashvalleyredcross.org.
