Northview and North Clay volleyball earn wins

CLINTON -- Northview clinched a share of the Western Indiana Conference title on Thursday night with a 25-4, 25-5, 25-9 victory at South Vermillion.

The Knights got 10 kills from both Shelbi Morris and Brylie Riddell on the way to the win, the team's seventh straight. Riddell also added seven digs, three blocks and two aces with Morris adding three digs. McKenzi Kumpf provided seven kills, two digs and two service aces with Ashlen Buck branching out from her usual libero roll to smack nine kills with an ace and a dig. Audrey Clark provided a kill with three digs and Briana Cook passed out nine assists. Taylor Hess added 11 assists, six digs, two aces and a kill for Northview and Hannah Willocks added three assists to the team total. Alexus Bex tallied two kills, two assists and a block and Mikayla Rowan had four kills with a block.

Northview can clinch the conference title on Oct. 5 when they travel to Owen Valley.

The Knights travel to Boonville for tournament play today.

North Clay eighth-grade tops Cascade

CASCADE -- North Clay's eighth-grade volleyball team remained unbeaten on Thursday night with a 25-10, 25-22 victory at Cascade.

Morgan Stearley and Kaylee Cooper each posted three assists in the win with Zoe Orman leading the team with two kills. Gabby Horrall, Alex Swaim, Alyssa Yocom, Madison McDonald and Ashley Heck each had a kill.

On the defensive side, Stearley, Gracie Timberman, Alex Swaim, Madison Trusty and Heck each had a dig.

Stearley led the squad with 11 service points with Yocom providing eight. Swaim and Heck each had six points, McDonald, Bre Dove and Cooper had three points and Kaytlin Galloway had two points.

The seventh- and-eighth-grade Knights play at Sullivan in the WIC Tourney today.
