Lorene M. Moon, 76, Clay City, passed away Oct. 2, 2011, at Regional Hospital, Terre Haute, following a brief illness.

Lorene was born in Clay City, Sept. 24, 1935, the daughter of Herman and Bessie (Chambers) Luther.

Lorene graduated from Clay City High School with the class of 1954.

She married Eddie L. Moon June 24, 1955, in Clay City.

Lorene worked as a Certified Nurses Assistant at McCann Manor for several years. Recently, she was working in the deli at Miller's IGA.

She attended the Heritage Baptist Church and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

In her free time, Lorene enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with her friends and family.

She is survived by her husband Eddie Moon, daughter Cathy Slough and husband Phil, grandson Travis Slough (Beth), granddaughter, Courtney Slough, all of Coal City, great-grandchildren Annaleigh and Caleb Slough, siblings Melvin "Bing" Luther, Lela Moss and Phyllis (George) Scherb, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Services will be at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Steve Tyra officiating. Burial will follow at Little John Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday, from 11 a.m., until time of services.
