In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, members of the International Association of Firefighters Brazil Local 1453 will be wearing pink throughout the month of October.

On Monday, Brazil Mayor Ann Bradshaw signed a proclamation encouraging members of the local union to wear pink.

Union President Jake Bennett said firefighters will wear the "Passionately Pink" T-shirts on Thursdays and Fridays through October.

In addition, city hall associates will be allowed to wear the shirts on those days as well.

Bennett said the union recently passed a resolution recently in order to help create more awareness regarding breast cancer.

The International Association of Firefighters also teamed up with the Susan G. Komen Foundation, which supplied the T-shirts.

Bennett added county residents may purchase the T-shirts for $12 by calling him at 812-236-7354.

"Any funds raised go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation Passionately Pink program," Bennett said.
