Clay City, NMK drop in latest rankings

Both the Clay City Imperial Regiment and Northview Marching Knights received votes in the fourth week poll at Indianamarching.com.

The Marching Knights, ranked third one week ago in Class B, moved to fifth this week, tallying 112 votes.

Greenwood remained the top-ranked Class B band with 147 votes, including seven first-place nods.

Goshen followed with 142 votes (three firsts), while Jasper ranked third with 126 votes. Concord was fourth with 120 votes, followed by the Marching Knights, Floyd Central (99), Plainfield (82), Munster (75), DeKalb (72) and New Castle (69).

In Class D, Clay City tallied six votes, good enough for 16th in the poll.

Last week, the Imperial Regiment received 23 votes and ranked 14th.

Springs Valley jumped past Forest Park for the top ranking in Class D this week, receiving 150 votes, including all 10 first-place votes.

Forest Park ranks second with 136 votes, followed by Lewis Cass (134), Mater Dei (114), Paoli (107), Monrovia (98), Woodlan (93), Orleans (81), Adams Central (69) and Eastern-Greentown (54).

All bands competing in Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) have a week reprieve from the postseason this week.

The Imperial Regiment will take part in two contests Saturday.

At 1:13 p.m., Saturday, Clay City will compete in the Cavalcade of Champions at Center Grove High School. Other Class D bands competing include New Washington, Crawford County, Morristown, Monrovia, Triton Central and Springs Valley.

The Imperial Regiment will also compete in the Warren Central Invitational. Clay City will take the field at 3:30 p.m. Other Class D bands competing include Tri-Central and New Washington.

The Marching Knights will also take part in the Cavalcade of Champions Saturday. Northview will perform at 7:25 p.m., and is the final Class B band to perform.

Other Class B bands performing Saturday include Plainfield, Columbus East, Pendleton Heights, New Palestine and Jasper.

Both the Marching Knights and Imperial Regiment will take part in the ISSMA Regional contest in Evansville on Oct. 15.
