The following is a list of upcoming area events scheduled to take place today, Sunday and Monday as provided to The Brazil Times:

No Paper Monday

In observance of Columbus Day Monday, Oct. 10, The Brazil Times will not publish a newspaper. However, The Times will publish a newspaper Tuesday, Oct. 12. For additional information, call 446-2216, Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.


Brazil City Hall will be closed Monday, Oct. 10, for Columbus Day.

In addition, the Sanitation Department will run one day behind.

In addition, the Clay County Courthouse, highway department, health department, extension office and soil and water conservation offices will be closed Monday, Oct. 10, in honor of Columbus Day.

All offices will re-open Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Apple Festival

The town of Bloomfield will host its annual Apple Festival today, beginning at 6 a.m.

Live entertainment, food, a carnival, vendors, arts and crafts and more will be available.

Free shuttle rides will be available from downtown Bloomfield to the park.

Handicapped parking will be available.

The parade will be Oct. 9, at 2 p.m., and will begin at Bloomfield High School.


The Reelsville Volunteer Fire Department will conduct its monthly breakfast from 7-11 a.m., today.

Meeting Set

The Center Point Town Council's October meeting has been rescheduled.

The meeting will take place at 9 a.m., today, at Town Hall.


The fourth Harvest hoedown will take place today, from 4:30-9 p.m., at the Clay County 4-H Fairgrounds.

All proceeds from the event go to benefit the Clay Community Foundation.

Cost is $15. Children 12-under will be admitted for $5.

Tickets may be purchased at all Clay County Riddell National Bank locations and the location in Vigo County, located on State Road 46.

Open House

The Clay County Historical Society will conduct an open house Sunday, from 1-4 p.m.

There will be a special exhibit on loan from the Indiana Historical Society. Refreshments and door prizes will be available.
