'Eaglefest' scheduled for Saturday

Monday, October 10, 2011

The Eagles Lodge No. 274 of Brazil will host an "Eaglefest," benefit and pancake breakfast for Riley Hospital for Children and Eagle Lake Saturday.

The benefit will take place at Eagle Lake campground, beginning at 10 a.m., with an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast.

When the breakfast ends at noon, the Eagle Ride portion of the benefit begins.

The price is $5 for just the breakfast or $15 for the ride registration, which includes the breakfast, a spot in the motorcycle ride and dinner.

Participating riders leave Eagle Lake at noon and head to the Terre Haute Eagles Lodge, with arrival scheduled for 1 p.m.

The ride continues at 1:45 p.m., with the next destination being the Eagles Lodge in Greencastle. Riders will leave Greencastle at 3:45 p.m., and are scheduled to return to Eagle Lake at 5 p.m.

As riders arrive for dinner, entertainment is scheduled to begin.

All proceeds will go to Riley Hospital for Children and toward the upkeep of Eagle Lake.

Eagles' trustee Harold Navel, along with other Eagle members, came together to create the event.

Navel said this is the first year for the benefit and the organization hopes to make it an annual event.

"We're working to change the lodge to more people helping people," Navel said. "We (the Eagles) help individual people and we have done other benefits for Riley Hospital recently."

Navel said those interested in the event may call 317-518-9068 for more information.
