The Knightsville Town Council met Tuesday night for its monthly meeting where it passed a resolution to reduce budget lines, discussed a pay raise for the Town Marshal and set trick-or-treat times.
The council voted, all in favor, of Resolution No. 1, 2011, to reduce line two.
The resolution will make appropriations in order to provide funding for the 2012 budget. Some of the reductions include:
* $25,000 from Motor Vehicle Highway (MVH),
* $5,000 from Local Option Income Tax (LOIT), Public Safety and
* $10,000 from Park Donation.
Meanwhile, the council discussed a pay raise for current Town Marshal Garry Howard.
Howard is a candidate for the vacant Harmony Town Marshal job.
Council President Mike Kester and council member David Brown both acknowledged they didn't want to lose Howard, but noted they can't completely match what Harmony would be offering.
The raise of $6,000 to $7,200 was voted on and passed, 2-1. The council then noted that even with the raise Howard might not stay, and that the council has to wait and see what Harmony's decision will be.
Lastly, the council scheduled trick-or-treat hours for Oct. 30-31, from 6-8 p.m.
The Knightsville Town Council meets the second Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. in the Knightsville Community Center.
