CLAY CITY -- Clay City wrapped up the regular season in volleyball by splitting a pair of home matches on Saturday, topping South Vermillion and falling in three games to Linton.
The Eels dominated the Wildcats in a 25-11, 25-12 victory led by a balanced effort at the net and on defense.
Clay City got four kills apiece from Callie Dayhuff and Meeghan Riggs while Asie Jeffers led the squad with five. Brielle Drelick added three kills in the victory.
On defense, Drelick led the Eels with four digs with Dayhuff adding three digs followed by Chloe Kittle, who provided two digs. Emmie Kittle had 12 assists for Clay City and had 14 points. Chloe Kittle had five points and Dayhuff had eight points.
Against Linton, Clay City took the first game, but fell 25-22, 20-25, 18-20 to the Miners.
Drelick had 11 kills to go with seven digs and six blocks while Jeffers had nine kills, five digs and three blocks. Riggs provided the Eels with three kills, eight points and four digs. Clay City's Chloe Kittle had a kill and four digs, but it was Dayhuff who led the team with 13 digs. Emmie Kittle had 20 assists in the match.
