Sunday, October 16, 2011

The marching season has extended for both Clay City and Northview.

On Saturday, both the Imperial Regiment and Marching Knights received golds to earn a trip to Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Semi-State competition.

Both bands competed in the Evansville Central ISSMA Regional contest.

In Class D, all but two bands received Gold ratings, including Clay City, Tell City, Henryville, North Posey, Springs Valley, New Washington, Perry Central, South Spencer, Forest Park, Mater Dei, South Knox, Orleans and Paoli.

Crawford County and Eastern (Pekin) each received Silver ratings.

Of all the Class D bands competing at Evansville Central, only South Knox, New Washington and Tell City will not advance to Semi-State.

There were a total of 12 Class B bands competing at Evansville Central Saturday, with 10 advancing to Semi-State.

The Marching Knights earned Gold status along with Bloomington North, New Palestine, Greenwood, F.J. Reitz, Plainfield, Jasper and Floyd Central.

Evansville North, Whiteland, Evansville Central and Evansville Harrison all received Silver ratings. However, Evansville Harrison will join the remaining Gold rated bands at Semi-State.

Clay City will take part in the Franklin Community High School ISSMA Semi-State Saturday while the Marching Knights will compete at Indianapolis Pike High School.

Performance times were not known at press time.

The ISSMA State Finals are scheduled to take place Saturday, Oct. 29, at Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis.

Five bands from each semi-state site in the northern and southern portion of the state will advance to the state finals.
