McCarty and other winners were announced during the company's awards ceremony Oct. 1, at its headquarters in West Plains, Mo.
The National Flight Nurse of the Year is presented to the nurse who works as a team player, demonstrates a desire to increase knowledge and skills and actively pursues opportunities to promote Air Evac in communities.
Air Evac Lifeteam Senior Medical Director Dr. Kelly Cox said McCarty was an "integral part of the Brazil crew."
"Samantha is an extraordinary person and clinician who epitomizes nursing at its finest," Cox said. "She is highly skilled, compassionate and consistently displays the highest ethical standards."
Cox said since McCarty's arrival at Air Evac in 2005, she has "positively impacted her co-workers, her patients and just about everybody she has come into contact with."
McCarty resides in Dennison, Ill.
