* County bands primed for ISSMA Semi-State

With only two weeks left in the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) marching season, both the Northview Marching Knights and Imperial Regiment are still receiving votes in the Indianamarching.com polls.

In Class B this week, Northview ranked fourth overall with 129 votes, including two first-place tallies.

Concord was rated in the top spot with 139 votes, including four firsts, followed by Greenwood with 138 votes and three first-place nods.

Goshen was third with 130 votes and two first.

Following Northview this week were Jasper (114 votes), Floyd Central (97), DeKalb (80), North Side and Plainfield (each with 73) and New Castle (71).

Last week, the Marching Knights sat in second with 139 votes, including three firsts, while Goshen was first.

Concord made the biggest jump in the poll this week, jumping from fifth to first.

In the Class D poll, Clay City continues to receive votes, tallying 38 this week, good enough for 12th overall. Last week, the Imperial Regiment received just six votes.

Springs Valley is still the top band in the Class D poll with 142 votes, followed by Lewis Cass (142), Forest Park (136), Monrovia (113), Paoli (111), Woodlan (100), Mater Dei (96), Bluffton (70), Adams Central (55) and Taylor (51).

Avon is the top-rated Class A band this week, while Western earned the most votes in Class C.

Both the Marching Knights and Imperial Regiment will compete at the ISSMA Semi-State level this weekend.

On Saturday, Northview will compete in the Indianapolis Pike Class B event. The Marching Knights will take the field at 2:44 p.m.

Other Class B bands taking part in the contest include Plainfield, Zionsville, Greenwood, Greenfield-Central, New Castle, New Palestine, Bloomington North, North Side, Jasper, Floyd Central, Goshen, Munster, Northridge, Lowell, Evansville North, Concord, Evansville Harrison, F.J. Reitz and DeKalb.

The Imperial Regiment will compete in the Franklin Community contest Saturday. Clay City will take the field at 1:39 p.m.

Other Class D bands involved include Henryville, Morristown, Eastern (Greentown), Taylor, Elwood, Monrovia, Perry Central, Lewis Cass, Orleans, Springs Valley, Bluffton, Adams Central, Paoli, South Spencer, Mater Dei, North Posey, Forest Park, Eastside and Woodlan.

The top 10 bands from each class will advance to the ISSMA State Finals, scheduled for Oct. 29, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

i know its beating a dead horse but shouldnt northview band be on the front page instead of clay city?
